Should I See a Female Chiropractor?
We understand that looking for a new chiropractor can be a difficult decision. You want to find someone who makes you feel comfortable and works in a way that your body responds well to.
A lot of people also make the decision about which chiropractor to go based on if they are most comfortable seeing a male or a female chiropractor. This makes sense as part of the decision making process.
What is the Difference between a Female Chiropractor and a Male Chiropractor?
While both male and female chiropractors are trained in the same techniques at chiropractic college, you will find that each chiropractor has a unique set of skills and techniques that they have developed and personalised over many years of practice. You may also find that many females will adjust a little differently to men due to their smaller body size. As a female chiropractor myself, I have found that using a combination of several adjusting techniques is what I find most effective for my patients and myself. I tend to use a combination of the following techniques for the best results.
- Manual adjusting (this is the technique where you hear and feel some pops and clicks in the joints during the adjustment).
- Drop table
- Activator
- Dry needling
- Trigger point / active release technique
- Cranial adjustments
- TMJ / jaw work
I always say to my patients that it is important to find the right chiropractor for you and your body. Seeing a male or a female chiropractor may slightly change the type of adjustments you receive, but ultimately will depend on each practitioner.
