Being a chiropractor I see a lot of people presenting for chiropractic care due to lower back pain. A lot of people don’t realise that chiropractic can be an effective way to manage and heal lower back injuries. Chiropractic is a natural and holistic health care profession dedicated to the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Chiropractors maintain a focus on spinal adjustments and treatment of surrounding structures. Studies have concluded that manual therapies commonly used by chiropractors are generally effective for the treatment of lower back pain^1-2. Chiropractors will use spinal adjustments to restore normal function and balance to the spine and nervous system in order to allow the body to heal.

Spinal adjustments/manipulation and manual therapy.³ This type of manual manipulation refers to a high-velocity, short lever arm thrust that is applied to a specific vertebra with the goal of improving functionality, reducing nerve irritability and restoring range of motion in the back.
There is literature support for chiropractic treatment of lower back pain. Many of the published guidelines recommend chiropractic adjustments to be included in the treatment plan early in the care and treatment of lower back pain.^4-12
