ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (ART)
Active release technique is a unique movement based soft tissue technique that treats muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. ART is extremely popular with top athletes, teams, and strength and conditioning coaches such as Charles Poliquin in the USA and Canada but is still relatively unknown in Australia.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Over used and injured muscles produce dense, tough areas of scar tissue. This scar tissues restricts normal muscle range of motion and can lead to pain and weakness, tendonitis or nerve entrapments. Active release aims to break down these areas of scar tissue to reduce pain and restore full range of motion and function.
ART practitioners are trained in techniques that may be able to assist with a range of sports injuries or soft tissue complaints such as limited mobility, tendonitis, repetitive strain injuries or nerve entrapments (pins and needles or numbness).
