What Can A Chiropractor Help With?

Have you ever heard about chiropractic treatment and wondered what a chiropractor can help with?

Up to 300,000 Australians visit chiropractic clinics each week, seeking treatment for a variety of problems. While many people associate chiropractic with back injuries, there are a range of musculoskeletal conditions that can be treated.

At Dynamic Chiropractic, we have helped patients with issues such as jaw pain, plantar fasciitis, pregnancy-related back and pelvic pain and post-surgery knee pain as well as many more injuries, aches and pains. Chiropractors are trained in a range of techniques and offer a holistic and natural approach to looking after your body.

When you visit our clinic, we focus on treating not only the symptoms but also the root cause of the problem so the pain doesn’t return.

Here’s a deeper look at the conditions we may help you with.

Back and Neck Pain

Back pain and neck pain are the two most common symptoms that chiropractors treat. Often the pain is caused by misalignment in the spine, which can be the result of poor posture, injury or a condition such as scoliosis.

Chiropractic treatment can help to improve alignment and relieve pressure on the nerves, providing relief from pain. Spinal adjustments have been shown to be an effective way to manage back and neck pain which is why so many people seek treatment with chiropractors.

Sport Injuries

Chiropractors can actually treat much more than simply back and neck pain — we may also be able to help with sports injuries in the shoulder, hip, elbow and knee.

Many chiropractors are trained in additional soft tissue techniques such as active release therapy, dry needling and cupping which allows them to treat sports injuries and painful joints.

Pregnancy-related Back And Pelvic Pain

Chiropractors are trained in techniques that can be suited to pregnancy as well.

Pregnancy can place a lot of pressure on the spine and pelvis which can create discomfort and strain. Fortunately, chiropractic adjustments can be modified to help with pregnancy-related lower back and pelvic pain. Chiropractors have a special pillow that allows pregnant Mums to lie on the table and make the process very comfortable.

Is It A Physio Injury Or Chiro Injury?

A common concern we receive amongst patients is whether certain conditions can be treated by a chiropractor or require a physiotherapist’s assistance. Whilst we will never deter a patient from seeking a second opinion, there’s much more than your chiropractor can help with than simply spinal issues.

Chiropractors are trained to adjust knees, ankles, shoulders and other joints as well as work with the muscles around those joints.

Overall, I find it comes down to personal preference whether you prefer to see a physio or a chiropractor. I find that physiotherapists and chiropractors work really well together — physios have more of a strength focus which improves rehabilitation whilst chiros have a more hands-on focus that’s great at getting patients out of pain and ready for rehab.
